Richardson PD was one of the first mutual aid departments on the scene after the tornado that ravaged Rowlett on December 26, 2015. Rowlett Strong recently conducted a City-Wide Spirit week to benefit Officer Sherrard’s family.
We were pleased and honored to be able to present a check for $2,544 last week. This is due to the generosity of Officer Sherrard’s friends and extended family in Rowlett and Wylie. It’s due to your generosity.
We also presented an additional $1,000 check in the form of a grant from the First Response fund, using money raised from last year’s First Response Appreciation Gala. And this year’s gala is in the works. For information, see our Gala page or use the contact form below.
Rowlett Strong was originally formed to raise funds for tornado relief, in the aftermath of the 12-26-15 “Christmas tornadoes.” Most of our citizens were either affected either directly by the tornado, or know someone who was. The event took an emotional toll on many who were not physically touched by the storm.
|2/20/16||Applebee’s Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser and Silent Auction||$2,500|
|3/26/16||Rebuild Rowlett 5K||$40,655|
|Ongoing||City-Wide Spirit Event||over $5000|
|6/10/17||Second Annual Rebuild Rowlett 5K||$5000|
As the tornado relief fund has closed, we have re-focused our fundraising efforts toward our First Response Appreciation fund, raising money to provide grants to members of all the police and fire departments that responded to the tornado aftermath in Rowlett. We want to help them in their time of need, just as they helped us in ours.

To do all we can to support those affected by the 12-26-15 tornado and other disasters, and to honor those who have been there for our friends and neighbors. We will continue until everyone is back in their homes where they belong.
